Your HP TouchSmart's integrated Bluetooth adapter creates a Personal Area Network, or PAN, for connecting business devices such as a printer, cell phone or headset. The adapter is enabled by default, but it can be disabled in one of three ways, the most likely being through the HP hot key or Wireless Assistant program. Bluetooth can also be disabled through the BIOS setup utility. You can re-enable Bluetooth on your TouchSmart in a few quick steps.
1.
Press the 'Wireless' key or button on your HP TouchSmart to toggle wireless functionality on or off. This key simultaneously controls all wireless devices, such as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
2.
Click the 'Wireless Assistant' icon in the Windows 7 notification area, and then click the Bluetooth entry to enable it. If you don't see the icon, click the small arrow to the left of the other icons to reveal any hidden icons. The Wireless Assistant offers individual control over wireless devices.
3.
Reboot your system and press 'F10' repeatedly when you see the message 'Press F10 to Enter Setup.' Select the 'System Configuration' menu, use the 'Down' arrow to highlight 'Embedded Bluetooth Device,' and then press 'Enter' to enable it. Save your changes and exit Setup.
